Community Market

Purpose: Cooks are responsible for preparing all foods for the hot bar, and deli case. Cooks are also responsible for cooking all hot foods to order.

Status:   Reports to Food Service Manager and Kitchen Manager


  • Provide a high level of professional, prompt, and friendly customer service
  • Follows all safe food handling procedures
  • Preparation and production of all food for the hot bar, and deli case
  • Placement of all food in the proper place
  • Follows recipes
  • Taste product for quality control
  • Ensure proper signage is in place
  • Prepares all hot foods to order
  • Operates all kitchen machinery and assist in maintenance
  • Rotates, labels and date all food prepared
  • Remove and weigh/write-off any outdated or spoiled product
  • Track and report any food waste
  • Maintain the flow of the kitchen monitoring prep work and cleaning tasks are being completed accordingly
  • Keeping workers on task
  • Prioritize all kitchen duties in order of urgency
  • Assist all prep cooks, production cooks, and kitchen assistants with duties as needed
  • Create signage when needed
  • Assist in training new cooks and prep cooks
  • Submit recipes, suggestions and feedback to Food Service Manager and Kitchen Manager
  • Maintain temperature log within coolers and cases; reports any failures to the on-duty Kitchen Manager
  • Cleans and sanitizes the entire work area including: tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, freezers, and machinery
  • Maintains positive work environment
  • Assist with putting away all orders in appropriate locations
  • Treats fellow workers with respect and honesty
  • Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the Food Service Manager,  or Kitchen Manager
  • The Cook II will be trained and authorized to process and record department transfers of products from other departments.
