Promotions Manager

Status: Reports to Director of Purchasing. This position is based in the St. Paul, MN headquarters.  Position is full-time exempt; some travel is required.

INFRA: Independent Natural Food Retailers Association (INFRA) is a purchasing cooperative owned and governed by natural and organic food retailers of all sizes working together to forge a sustainable future. INFRA facilitates member collaboration to strengthen independents' position in the marketplace.

Summary: The INFRA Promotions Manager is responsible for execution of quality purchasing programs to our member stores. The Manager works closely with INFRA’s management team to identify and develop opportunities that support the mission and vision of the association.

Essential Functions:

Promotions Management

  • Negotiate and manage National and Regional INFRA Deals programs in identified categories collaboratively with Category Leads
  • Manage the process of National and Regional INFRA Deals contracts with brokers and manufacturers, ensuring accuracy with contract details, execution and commitments
  • Develop and present promotional opportunities to member stores
  • Ensure smooth working relationship with primary distributors for program success
  • Ensure discount structure is accurately set up at distribution for member stores
  • Coordinate collection of past due contract fees with INFRA Financial Manager
  • Negotiate annual EDLP program with brokers and manufacturers
  • Oversee promotional estimate functions with team
  • Oversee and collaborate with MarCom on publications related to INFRA promotions, both electronically and print, including monthly Independent Choice(TM) Flyer
  • Inform the development of technology tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency of delivering programs to both retail members and industry partners in collaboration with Management team
  • Deal with unexpected problems in the product negotiations to ensure all links connect appropriately
  • Maintain and improve systems for evaluating data and program performance
  • Collaborate with team in category management reviews, coordinate these with future promotional opportunities
  • Use SPINS data to inform promotional decisions
  • Oversee INFRA Annual Conference Tabletop in collaboration with event planners

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, leadership, coaching and guidance for direct reports
  • Participate in budgeting process, work plan, and program development in collaboration with team
  • Provide quarterly reports on progress to Director
  • Approve work plans for direct reports and ensure open, clear, measurable goal setting using the process determined by leadership
  • Support the execution of these goals through regular discussions and follow through
  • Manage team meeting preparations, including agendas and minutes
  • Participate actively and constructively as a member of the INFRA Management Team
  • Participate in active communication across the entire organization

General INFRA

  • Work with INFRA staff to generate annual calendar of activities, including promotions
  • Attend INFRA’s regular staff and organizational meetings
  • All other duties as assigned by direct report

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience
  • At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of project management experience
  • Experience in grocery retail preferred
  • Experience in purchasing, brokering, or distribution in the natural foods industry with demonstrated success
  • Familiarity with SPINS, category management, and pricing strategies at retail
